Changelog

Every algorithm is versioned (see methodology), so a rule change never silently changes past results. This page records what changed and when.

1. 2026-09-22

   Fish database v2026.11 — 50 species, all reviewed

   • Species count raised from 30 to 50: 16 additional community fish plus the first 4 invertebrate entities (cherry shrimp, amano shrimp, mystery snail, nerite snail).
   • All 50 species are now fact-checked: Batch 1 corrected the bristlenose pleco scientific name (Ancistrus sp.), and Batch 2 added seven inline review notes — mystery snail trade species (P. diffusa), chili rasbora practical pH (5.0–7.0), bleeding heart tetra fin-nipping, Congo tetra true minimum tank, yoyo loach rank fights, electric blue acara wild vs aquarium size, and redtail shark strict solitude. No field values were changed by the notes.
   • New `type: fish | invertebrate` dimension on the species schema so shrimp and snails flow through the stocking and compatibility engines.
   • Invertebrate pairings added to the compatibility registry — 56 published guides now, including the betta / cherry shrimp seed combination.
   • Review checklists regenerated (worksheet + signed archive) with a global note that the bioload factor is our own relative index, not a scientific standard.

2. 2026-09-22

   Compatibility Engine v1.1 + 50 compatibility guides

   • Verdicts expanded from three to four levels: Good Match / Conditional / Risky / Not Recommended.
   • Added swimming-zone and schooling-requirement dimensions to every check.
   • Published 56 curated compatibility guides with per-pair reasoning, tank size, and sources.
   • Added 14 tank size entity pages with real water volume, suitable fish, and equipment recommendations.

3. 2026-09-21

   Calculator rules layer v1.1 + result explanations

   • All tunable calculator constants moved into a versioned rules file (algorithmVersion + reviewedDate).
   • Every calculator result now shows 'Why this result' with explicit assumptions and a version badge.
   • Homepage repositioned around planning; Aquarium Plan builder MVP launched.

4. 2026-09-20

   Fish database v2026.09 (schema v2, 30 species)

   • Schema v2: swimming zone, hardness range, lifespan, per-species bioload factor, compatibility tags.
   • Every species record references registered sources with type and authority level.
   • Fish detail pages rebuilt with tank mates, fish to avoid, and Article structured data.
